FOUNDATIONS                                 Faith                                            Study  D

Faith and repentance are both necessary for true conversion.  In Acts 20:21 Paul stated that he testified "both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, REPENTANCE toward God, and FAITH toward our Lord Jesus Christ."  This means that we are to repent to God by turning from our sins and put our faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.  The word "faith" (noun) and the word "believe" (verb) comes from a root Greek word which appears over 600 times in the New Testament.

FAITH (pistis) means faith, belief, firm persuasion, assurance, firm conviction, honesty, integrity, faithfulness, truthfulness.

BELIEVE (pisteuo) means to trust in, put faith in, confide in, rely on a person or thing; to intrust, commit to the power of; have a strong mental persuasion.
