Winter 2006

Dearly Beloved of Our Lord:

We send you our greetings as we have just been blessed to be grandparents again at the end of October.  We now have a new granddaughter who was born to our second daughter and her husband who live near us in Portland.  This is a special blessing for Karen because this is her first time she had a daughter giving birth.  And there is always a special blessing we receive from our Lord with each new birth in our family.  We now have seven children and four grandchildren and the birth of each one seems to introduce some new direction added to our walk with Jesus and the ministry He gives us.  There is always another new adventure as we follow after Him.

The day before our daughter went into labor we were privileged to meet up with Martin Kennedy in Portland’s Living Room, Pioneer Courthouse Square.  This was the second time in a month that he rode a bus in from his home in St. Helens to return to street ministry in downtown Portland.  He brought his signboard which proclaims the gospel from 1 Corinthians 15:1-8 on the back.  Some students, along with their teacher, from Mt. Hood Community College approached him and Karen and asked to interview them on videotape as part of a class project.  The teacher is a brother in the Lord and he spent some time talking with Karen and asking her questions about how well we were received.  We had a digital camera with us so we took a couple of photos of Karen and Marty being videotaped and interviewed.  The teacher also took photos of his students while they interviewed and videotaped us

Thanksgiving!  We give our Lord Jesus Christ Thanks for the many, many years He has blessed us to walk together with Him and with each other.  We celebrated our fortieth Wedding Anniversary in October.  And we have been walking in ministry together with Jesus for thirty-six years.  And during this time He has blessed us with so many friendships and relationships in His Forever Family.  We thank you and we thank Him for your friendship, your prayers, and your support.  May you be blessed with a wonderful season of Thanksgiving throughout the entire year.  May mercy, grace, and peace be multiplied to you and your family.
